Bryan and Katy held their beautiful ceremony at the Hudson Gardens in Littleton, Colorado with their reception at the Space Gallery in Denver.  Danielle from Something Classic Events provided wedding coordination for all the gorgeous details, and our favorite florist,  Dawn Ackerman was the floral genius, and Greenspot Catering created the adorable dinner!

Katy was a details QUEEN.  She had so many gorgeous details–from the save the dates to the drinks at the ceremony site to the various food “stations” of the buffet–everything was fantastic.  She clearly gets this trait from her mom, who had set out the most gorgeous lunch for all the girls as they got ready.  As I looked at the fruit in its cute little bucket, the chips in the tissue paper lined basket, I looked at Nic and I told him I was definitely missing an important mom gene.  When Will gets married it will be a 6 pack of beer on the counter and a bag of chips with a bottle of salsa–all in their original packaging.  :P  Knowing my complete lack of “presentation’ skills (I’ve been known to give gifts in the Target bag I bought them in), he just nodded his head in agreement!

Katy and Brian were amazing to work with.  She was one of those brides that obviously cared about her vendors.  We even each had adorable (not a detail missed!) survival bags filled with so many yummy goodies that Nic and I were still eating out of them two weddings later!

Katy’s bridesmaids were awesome.  While doing Katy’s make-up, one of them started crying!  It was so sweet–I love it when the significance of the day catches up with people!

coloradospringsweddingphotographer02

Katy and Bryan opted to see each other beforehand, which totally saved the day.  It rained after the ceremony, so in doing the portraits ahead of time we avoided the disappointment rain!  Their first look was super cute. (I was going to pop a picture of Bryan’s reaction into that middle spot, but Katy’s totally adorable giggle won hands down–sorry Bryan!)

I *loved* Katy’s dress.  It’s polka dot overlay and swishy skirt were right up my alley.  I asked Nic if he’d leave me so I could remarry and wear this dress.  (I think he’s still considering the offer.)  ;)

I told you the bridesmaids were fun!

coloradospringsweddingphotographer08

The groomsmen were fantastic, too (and totally outnumbered)!  :)

Some ceremony details:

I love these moments of Katy with her dad:

It began to rain a little during the ceremony…

coloradospringsweddingphotographer111

…but that didn’t stop anyone from enjoying it!

coloradospringsweddingphotographer12

After the ceremony it was time to leave Hudson Gardens and head to The Space Gallery for the reception. It looked AMAZING!

coloradospringsweddingphotographer13

The caterers had set up three stations for dinner with different types of cuisine.  Even the food was cute!

coloradospringsweddingphotographer14

We went to the candy bar for our ring shots:

Love this wide angle view of the reception from Nic:

And these two garter toss shots!

coloradospringsweddingphotographer19

The Space Gallery has a twinkle light lined alley that is always a low light requested portrait spot!

coloradospringsweddingphotographer15

For Katy and Bryan’s get-away, they had sparklers.  It was raining heavily, which complicated things a little, but their guests knew how much the get-away meant to Katy and braved the rain!  With the rain, and the low light, and the chaos of any kind of get-away I had no idea what kind of shots we’d end up with.  We’re super proud of these!

Thanks for everything Katy and Bryan!  You guys were fantastic to work with and we hope you enjoy the sneak peek!

Kasey and Andrew were married on July 18th at the Meadows at Marshdale.  They had the most gorgeous weather for their wedding, and it fit in perfectly with all of Kasey’s gorgeous details.  She DIYed everything, but you would have never known it–all of the details looked completely professional!

coloradospringsweddingphotographer1

Kasey looked AMAZING, of course!!

coloradospringsweddingphotographer2

coloradospringsweddingphotographer3

As Kasey and Andrew walked back down the aisle after the ceremony, she bopped him over the head with her flowers.  I wasn’t close enough to hear what he’d said, but I’m pretty sure he deserved it.  ;)  The shot on the right was just a few seconds later.  I absolutely love completely candid moments that look like they’re set up portraits!

A few portraits–these two are so fun to photograph!!

coloradospringsweddingphotographer10

I had to go super golden on this one!!

Kasey’s son Cameron was NOT impressed with me.  Even when I tried to bond over Star Wars, he still gave me the “you are so lame and your camera is lamer” look.  He was being so serious before the ceremony, that my favorite shot of him is a quiet moment:

coloradospringsweddingphotographer6

But after the ceremony I got him running and jumping and the 6 year old goof-pot boy in him TOTALLY came out.  I love, love, LOVE this next shot:

The reception was held in the adorable red barn on the Meadows at Marshdale property.  A perfect spot for dinner!

Thanks for everything Kasey and Andrew!  You guys are so easy to photograph and work with–I hope you love the photos!

Carrie and Kevin had one of those weddings that leaves us smiling on the drive home.  Everyone at the wedding was fantastically down-to-earth.  Not even the “end of the world” rainstorm could keep people from having a fantastic time!  Nic and I were laughing when the rain lightened up because the kind of drizzle that has sent people running for cover in the past actually had people heading outside at this wedding!  As Seattlites we always feel a kinship with a group that can enjoy the outdoors in a light rain!  The wedding was over three weeks ago, but we had so many great shots it’s taken a lot of time to blog!  So relax and get comfy!

I love the look on Kevin’s mom’s face as she helped Carrie get ready!!

weddingphotographersdenver01

Try not to cry over the shot on the left!!  The flower girl was so cute crying after she didn’t get to walk down the aisle with her mom (or any of the other bridesmaids for that matter) but got it together beautifully and managed to look oh-so-adorable for her REAL walk!

weddingphotographersdenver02

Another set of flower girl shots I can’t resist sharing.  I looked over at one point in the ceremony and saw a line of red high heels with bridesmaids’ legs.  And then one little pair of red slippers with absolutely no one in them.  I found the missing feet:

WE LOVE HAPPY COUPLES!!

weddingphotographersdenver03

Carrie and Kevin win the prize for having our biggest wedding party yet!  Sometimes with giant groups you just have to gaggle it up!  This is a total favorite move on a hot sticky day!  ;)

weddingphotographersdenver05

It’s not a party without cigars.  (Some day I’m going to have a party where we have friends over to play Risk while drinking whiskey and smoking cigars Winston Churchill style.  But I have to get this baby out of me first.)  [here’s another trick with big bridal parties–sometimes you just crop most of them out.  :P]

weddingphotographersdenver06

Right after we shot the wedding party and family shots, the rain arrived.  Not like “hey, it’s raining” raining.   But like “where’s the ark?!!!” raining.  We paused the portraits and Carried arrived to her reception in style…

weddingphotographersdenver12

weddingphotographersdenver11

This next shot annoys me a lot.  Carrie had specifically requested a shot of the bride and groom entering the reception from their point of view.  So I was gonna get that shot.  Come hell or really really high water I was gonna get it.  I got soaked trying to get to the perfect spot and then soaked following them into the barn.  My shots sucked.  Nic, who had been standing under cover the whole time, knocked it out of the park with this one.  I hate him a little bit.

weddingphotographersdenver13

After the rain clouds went on to torment other parts of the state, we went outside to get a few bride and groom portraits.  It’s really not fair that Carrie looked so good after all that rain!

weddingphotographersdenver07

The Botanic Gardens at Chatfield have a bunch of fantastic buildings.  The silo just outside the barn they used for the reception was particularly cool!  (This shot was from later that night, so it’s totally out of order here, but I’m just gonna live with it.)

The reception was a blast.  Instead of cake, they had Ben and Jerry’s cater  ice cream for the guests!!!  (these shots have nothing to do with that, I just felt it was important to mention the ice cream!)

weddingphotographersdenver14

Toasts…

weddingphotographersdenver15

They cut a small cake for the ritual and had the most messy cake-smashing I have ever seen (and probably will ever see)!!  Check out the woman’s reaction in this shot–her face is PRICELESS!

weddingphotographersdenver16

First dance time–I love the sweet shot on the left and then the hilarious dip/tongue-out/almost-fall shot on the right!

weddingphotographersdenver19

weddingphotographersdenver20

I love the blur in this shot.  Nic has a sharp version, so I almost tossed mine out for being imperfect, but I love the action and frenzy implied!  (I think that’s almost always the way with the shots you are on the fence about.  They’ll end up either getting trashed or they’ll go in the favorites folder and on the blog.  It’s just hard to tell sometimes whether you love or hate a shot!)

weddingphotographersdenver21

And then the dancing continued!

weddingphotographersdenver22

A huge amount of thanks to Carrie, Kevin, their family, and friends for making this wedding such a blast to photograph!

And a behind the scenes peek at Nicolas.  (The thing I like most about being pregnant is that I get to make Nic carry the extra camera now on account of it being too heavy for fragile little me.  Bwahahahaha.)
