Rick and Kristina are one of those incredibly gracious couples that vendors will do anything for.  It was such a pleasure to spend that gorgeous October day with them!  The wedding was held at the Craftwood Inn in Manitou Springs, and if you love food, you have to get married there.   The Craftwood Inn is known for their amazing food, and they definitely didn’t disappoint–it was hands down the best we’ve ever had at a wedding (and a reminder that it’s been too long since we’ve eaten at their restaurant)!  As a former wedding coordinator, I wasn’t surprised to see that Kristina had hired our favorite florist: Dawn from Hillside Consultants.  And it also wasn’t a surprise to see that Dawn went all out and totally transformed the dessert table into a little forest woodland that the guest couldn’t stop talking about!

Kristina had several accessories from her mother and grandmothers already out for us in a perfect display!  It was an unusual wedding for us in that we arrived just after the sun rose–we got to shoot everything in morning light!

Bride and groom’s first look at Garden of the Gods

Garden of the Gods in morning light is always stunning, as are these two!

At their engagement shoot we did some twirly pictures, so I was excited to recreate them on the wedding day!

Dawn’s signature surprise–the wedding date embroidered on the bouquet ribbon with perfect seed pearl pins holding it all together.

Outdoor wedding ceremony at The Craftwood Inn in Manitou Springs

The first time I looked at this shot of the recessional I was so caught up in Kristina’s joy that I almost missed Rick’s best man’s congratulatory pat.  Don’t miss it.

Dawn’s gorgeous centerpieces inside the beautiful Craftwood Inn.

The food.  Oh the food.  It was so yummy.  And there is that cupcake woodland I mentioned–Dawn, you are so creative and so generous with your talents!  We love you!

I love this shot of Rick and Kristina’s mom and dad.

Kristina and Rick, we love you guys!  We would wish you happiness, but I know you don’t need our wishes–you will have all the happiness in the world together!  (And a PS–please have lots of babies so we can photograph them and see you again soon.)  ;)

Marlis and Russell are one of those couples that are just FUN to be around.  They had one of the cutest first looks of all time, and they both live in Australia, so how could they not be cool?!  (Along with the Australian accent, Russell and his family were also SUPER excited to see squirrels, which totally made my day.  They were as excited about squirrels running around the Fine Art Center grounds as we would be at seeing koala bears outside a wedding reception!  Who knew that Australia doesn’t have squirrels?)  They are such a happy couple with a gorgeous sense of style and it was a privilege to capture their beautiful wedding!

Marlis had so many great accessories–lots of them from her mom and grandma!

The adorable first look I was telling you.

It’s usually the candid ones I love the most.  I just love these two shots of Marlis from our simple walk back to the house!

I love Nic’s angle on this wedding party portrait!

The ceremony was beautiful.

I love the series of shots I captured right after the ceremony.  I think they capture the bliss of being newly wed!

Marlis’s sister’s toast was so sweet.  I love it when the toast giver can’t get through it without crying!

We got to photograph another USAFA Chapel wedding a couple of weeks ago!  Holly and Brett had a beautiful wedding ceremony at the chapel with their reception at the Falcon Club.  The Falcon Club had some of the best food we’ve tasted at a wedding.  Even just the broccoli made you stop and go “wait!  this is so yummy!  how is this so yummy?  and it’s not even smothered in a cheese sauce!”

Holly was such a sweet relaxed bride.  She had the mother of all bruises on her arm from a softball game, but she wasn’t at all worried about it!  I love it when people just let go and enjoy their wedding day!

The Air Force Academy Chapel has one loooong aisle!  Brett beamed the whole time Holly walked toward him.

We had a very short time for bride and groom portraits outside of the chapel before dashing off to the reception.

It seems to always be very windy at the Academy, which makes dresses and veils fly out in the most beautiful way!  I love the way Holly’s wedding dress billowed as she walked.

Holly and her dad danced the polka and they were MOVING!  This is my favorite picture from their dance because you get a sense for the movement!
