We were back at the Air Force Academy for Catherine and Zack’s wedding two weeks ago!  Catherine is absolutely unflappable.  While getting ready for the day she got a text from Zack that their flight to their honeymoon in Croatia had been cancelled due to the Lufthansa strikes.   For a lot of us that would have been a total tailspin moment, but Catherine handled it beautifully, handing it off to one of the groomsmen and going on with her day!  We were also hit with pretty much every type of weather you could imagine during our portrait time, from wind to snow to rain to beautiful sun, and Catherine was ready to meet it all with a level head.  Catherine and Zack had hoped that we’d capture lots of laughter during the reception, and we absolutely did.  Their family and friends were so much fun, and they had a fantastic DJ.  We were thrilled to work Brandon because he had everything we love in a great DJ–awesome dance lights, fun music, and he kept us well informed.  If any of our brides are looking for a DJ, we’d love to work with Brandon again!

Kady and Jason kicked off our wedding season this year and I could not have asked for a nicer couple to do it!  Kady is one of the sweetest brides we’ve ever worked with–I cannot possibly express how kind she was to everyone or how infectious her enthusiasm was.  They are so full of FUN, too, and their story of being high school best friends who rediscovered each other as adults made everyone smile.  We were so happy to get to photograph their day and know they have many wonderful adventures in front of them!

Kady’s sparkly shoes were AMAZING and I am a giant fan of her dress.  To know me is to know that I adore tulle, and her tulle skirt and veil were so much fun to play with in the wind!

The ceremony was beautiful (as always with USAFA chapel weddings), and their pastor had everyone engaged in the great service.

Jason played football while at the Academy, so in something that was new to us we got to go into the stadium for portraits.  Kady was so cute with a football in her wedding dress–I loved the juxtaposition!

Their reception was such a fun party.  Great food, awesome cake, and lots of dancing!

I’m so excited to share this wedding–lots of favorites from this last wedding of 2012!  Jacqui is one of those rare people who can make DIY look completely professional.  It took me at least an hour to realize that the roses weren’t perfect gray blooms but actually made out of fabric!  When she walked into the reception space that morning I expected her to gasp and gush about how incredible it looked…but she didn’t because she had been there setting it up the night before.  For their morning wedding they had great brunch favorites and a crepe bar–lots of really fun ideas from this wedding!

So many great expressions in these ceremony shots–don’t miss the way Jacqui’s dad looks at her when they reach the altar or the way Jason looks at her as he takes her hand to begin the ceremony.

Jacqui is so stunning!

The vintage style brunch reception was beautiful, from the mason jars hanging from the ceiling with photos inside to the display on the cake table.  The table runners were dictionary pages with key words lightly highlighted (like ‘commitment’ or ‘joy’).
