intro-post

Real Photography closed in December 2014 and is no longer accepting clients.

Thank you for your support over the years! Please follow me at my new personal blog: www.needlesandapen.com to keep up with my latest photography, craft, and nursing school adventures.

Ellie and I headed off to Las Vegas last week for the annual WPPI (Wedding and Portrait Photographers International) event.  This was my second year attending, and it is such a highlight of my year.  Not just for the room service and housekeeping, not just for the classes and amazing speakers and inspiration, but also because it’s an opportunity to see some of my closest friends. Thanks to the beauty of the internet, we talk to each other every day, have known each other for years, and they are the people I go to when I need advice–both business and personal…but we rarely get to see each other because we’re spread all over the country!

This year only three from our group made the trip, but we had a blast.  Alison and I roomed together again this year (along with my friend Jamie–they were both very brave to be roommates with a 5 week old), and we continued what’s become tradition of doing one portrait shoot while there and then catching some headshots of each other.  (We need to break the tradition of doing it last minute on our last day next year, though!)

Here’s Alison in action during our portrait shoot (my non-behind-the-scenes pics from the shoot coming later this week!):

Photographers are crazy.  New white sweater?  Middle of the street?  No problem.

I’ve been cleaning out some files in an effort to get ready for wedding season 2010, and I ran into these photos from Jose Villa’s workshop last May.  The workshop was wonderful, Jose was everything I expected–gracious and talented and funny, and the models were gorgeous.  But the morning after the workshop I found out I was pregnant…hence the nine month delay in getting these processed and online!

The last couple of months have brought a parade of gorgeous wedding albums through the office.  Here are a few of the beautiful albums we’ve sent to our couples!

Andrew and Ellie were our first couple to order an 8×10 traditional album (albums with just one image per page).  I love the images they chose for it and am a huge fan of how it came together–it inspired me to use a similar album for Ellie’s birth pictures!

Jessica and Joe ordered a metal photo cover album with a white patent leather spine, with a leather mini album as a parents album.

Lisa and Dave picked a cream leather with a textured brown accent strip for their cover.

Melissa and Dave chose a glass cover with metallic silver spine.
