intro-post

Real Photography closed in December 2014 and is no longer accepting clients.

Thank you for your support over the years! Please follow me at my new personal blog: www.needlesandapen.com to keep up with my latest photography, craft, and nursing school adventures.

I didn’t think we’d ever run into another Eloise when we picked Ellie’s name, but here we are just 7 months later and I’ve already met another adorable Eloise!  (And this Eloise is more authentic–she has a pug!  [I warned Heather and Leon that I might be sending a little turtle wearing sneakers along with their pictures to complete the picture.])

Eloise’s session came in two parts–the first afternoon here at the studio in Black Forest, was a bit of a bust.  So we tried again at her house in downtown Colorado Springs the next day and saw a lot more smiles.  Even though the first day wasn’t a huge success, we still had some keepers!

One of my favorite things to capture when posing a bigger family portrait are smaller sections of that group.  Miss Eloise was definitely a daddy’s girl and we had no trouble capture cute pictures of her with Leon that day.  He was the ONLY person she wanted!

There’s nothing quite as perfect as family portraits in that golden hour sunlight!

It’s time for Nathan and Jackie’s sneak peek!  It took me a while to get this together because of the sheer number of photos we snapped–a new record for us!  Nathan and Jackie had one of those joy-filled weddings that demands a perfect sunny day!  I knew from my very first meeting with them how positive and friendly Nathan is, and his best man’s wonderful toast just confirmed what fantastic friends and people they are!  Jackie and Nathan had a Jewish wedding ceremony, which always fills me with jealousy over their great traditions, and, as Nic described it, an almost academic approach to the ceremony.  We got to see a traditional dance that we hadn’t seen before–the Mezinke Tanz–a dance for the father and mother when their final son or daughter gets married.  Nathan was so funny as he danced and said something to the effect of “Hurray!  You’re rid of me!”

The wedding reception was held at the St Julien Hotel in Boulder and it is a new favorite.  They were wonderful to work with and we would love to photograph more weddings at their hotel, so if you are a St Julien bride, send us an email!

Jackie and Nathan, this is just a tiny fraction of the many many photos that will be in your final gallery this weekend!

I loved starting off last week with a cute picture from our family folder and am thinking of making it a weekly event.  Here are my two turkeys sharing a book in bed this morning.  Long live afternoon preschool and all the lazy mornings it affords!

Coming up:  Nathan and Jackie’s sneak peek from their incredible Boulder wedding!
