intro-post

Real Photography closed in December 2014 and is no longer accepting clients.

Thank you for your support over the years! Please follow me at my new personal blog: www.needlesandapen.com to keep up with my latest photography, craft, and nursing school adventures.

I showed a preview of Stephen and Sarah’s session a couple of days ago (the motorcycle)…here’s a peek at Stephen’s beautiful twin…

(I wrote in a previous post about bracketing and high dynamic range [HDR] photos, but this actually isn’t one of them–the mountains in the background were under shadow, so no bracketing was needed, and the spot of sunlight over us gave Sarah’s hair that angelic glow!)

I am buried under a mountain of images–in the last two days I did a newborn session, headshots, family photos, and even some engagement photos! Lots to share in the days to come…

Here are some of the fabulous details I was talking about in my last post:

The caterer was a friend of the bride, so this cake topper was seen on the cake briefly before the festivities began:

The food was incredible. The groom caught the salmon we ate for dinner, and the cheesecake was out of this world. Did I mention that I was in love with the location, too? It was a destination wedding (the bride and groom are from my native Pacific Northwest), and they rented the most amazing chateau for the week. Here’s a peek at the dining room…

In my job as Laura’s assistant, I don’t usually get a chance to take portraits at the weddings, but I got a chance to snap this one of the bride. Her mother-in-law made the dress, and together they beaded it.

I love this shot of their unofficial first dance. There wasn’t an official first dance, but at the end of the evening the bride’s favorite song played on the radio, so she grabbed her groom for a very brief dance!

I usually proof photos during my son’s nap, so sometimes after he wakes up I’ll bring him back to the office and have him sit on my lap while I squeeze in one or two more images. It usually breaks my heart, because if there is ever (a) a girl wearing a wedding dress or (b) a pretty girl with dark hair, Will mistakes her for his godmother and says “Nan-nan?” and points at the screen.

When he saw this one, though, he said “ZOOM! ZOOM!”

This is Stephen, one of the twins whose senior portraits I shot Sunday. It was something very different for me, because they wanted to include their new passion for motorcycles into the shoot. I was totally game–I love trying new things!

Stephen really wanted to do his first burn-out in one of the photos, and at the very end of the session his mother (whose bike he was riding) gave in…and here’s the photo! His sister was a little worried that it would be the last we’d see of the bike and her brother, but I’m happy to say that everything went according to plan and this is the proof!
