intro-post

Real Photography closed in December 2014 and is no longer accepting clients.

Thank you for your support over the years! Please follow me at my new personal blog: www.needlesandapen.com to keep up with my latest photography, craft, and nursing school adventures.

OpLove is a non-profit organization run by photographers to give back to the military community. Families with a deploying military member are offered free portrait sessions by OpLove photographers.

I had an OpLove photography session at Palmer Park (one of my favorite Colorado Springs locations) on Saturday. Here are a few of my favorites:

This little girl loves her daddy so much. I love how she looks so much younger in this shot:

When I asked her to steal her daddy’s hat (after hearing that she loves to wear it), she corrected me. Apparently it is THEIR hat, not HIS hat.

He is equally popular with this little guy. I got a ton of great family pictures of everyone exploring the park.

I love portraits of a family walking. In this case, there was a lot of laughing and running.

And this is the inevitable outcome of running and being little. I told them that it was a good thing I have this photo for their lawsuit against me. ;)

a lightroom tip

Mar 29, 2008

(There are days when I want to make out with Scott Kelby for making my life better. This is one of those days. [I’m going to be really humiliated if he ever vanity-googles his name and discovers this post.])

I was reading his Lightroom book last night and read the following tip, which I am now compelled to share with the world:

When you are in the develop module and decide that you want to crop a photo, hit the “L” key twice after you select the crop tool. Now you can move the cropper edges around (and move your photo around underneath the crop area) and see exactly what it will look like when cropped because everything else will be totally dark.

I explain things terribly so I’m sure that makes no sense, but if you have Lightroom and have never tried this, you need to.

Right now.

You’ll want to make out with Scott Kelby, too.

Another digital bedtime themed layout:

And one I made tonight from an older photo I found Will playing with (and wrinkling) this morning:

Paper is from Scenic Route with the exception of the cute embossed heart paper which is by Cloud 9 Design (I love this Valentine line from them).
