intro-post

Real Photography closed in December 2014 and is no longer accepting clients.

Thank you for your support over the years! Please follow me at my new personal blog: www.needlesandapen.com to keep up with my latest photography, craft, and nursing school adventures.

Will’s grandma is visiting us this week and spoiling him within an inch of his life. :) They were at the store today and at the check-out Will spotted a bright pink princess toy camera that he went for immediately (no one has told him yet that pink and princesses are for girls). His grandma swapped it for a blue version and the kid was in hog heaven. When I got home this afternoon he was taking pictures of everything. His toys, his family…and telling them “smile!”

He’s 100% sure that the lens side of the camera goes toward your face…so he probably won’t be third shooting for us at any point in the immediate future, but he certainly has the photographer stance down!

My favorite part of the evening was when he took a picture of his new soccer ball and then thrust the camera at me saying “picture!” He grabbed the ball and hugged it to his face, ready for his close-up. Certainly a first! I was so sad that it was a fake picture I was taking and not a real one!

We had a busy weekend with a wedding and a senior portrait shoot, so there will be some good sneak peeks this week. In other behind-the-scenes news, after many months of being broken, my comments are finally fixed and looking pretty! I wanted to give a shout out to Shane for getting my comments all fixed and shiny after I gave up on fixing it myself. He’s a great person to go to for website work!

Sonya and Faisal’s wedding is coming up in less than two weeks! We are so excited to photograph their wedding ceremonies (I can’t wait for all the beautiful colors of their wedding)! They are a very sweet couple and it was great getting to know them better at their engagement shoot.

They asked for more conservative portraits than we normally do, so that was a fun challenge for me! I love that we were able to capture how wonderfully Faisal cares for Sonya–you can really tell that he is always looking to take care of her!

Faisal and Sonya got engaged on the Millennium Bridge, so it was only appropriate to take a few shots there!

Behind the scenes:  We were shooting on a few bridges over a little stream and there was a very happy dog prancing around in the water.  He wanted to know what my deal was:

Photographers tend to adopt funny stances as they attempt to become human tripods.  I like this one that Nic was sporting.   Like he’s going to take this shot, and then break into a run.  (I really shouldn’t throw stones about poses…but luckily Nic doesn’t write blog entries.)  ;)

A few of our couples are sweet enough to send us wedding invitations, which I love. I’m a total stationary junkie anyway…and when it comes to wedding stationary, I start to drool. It’s so much fun for us to get a feel for the wedding ahead of time with the invitation. Like the ADORABLE invite that arrived in our mailbox yesterday:

All of the pieces were so cute and coordinated perfectly with their save the dates!

I am keeping all of the save the dates and invitations and am planning on an adorable display of them at our dream studio.  In the mean time, they look fantastic on our fridge!
