intro-post

Real Photography closed in December 2014 and is no longer accepting clients.

Thank you for your support over the years! Please follow me at my new personal blog: www.needlesandapen.com to keep up with my latest photography, craft, and nursing school adventures.

Bernadette and Haydn saw each other before the ceremony so that we could spend more time on pictures. Here’s the “first look”:

The first hug (I love it when a candid moment looks too perfect not to be posed!):

This bridal party shot was Bernadette’s fantastic idea…although I think as we struggled to get people arranged around the waterfall she might have regretted it (or would have liked to at least be able to blame it on me). ;)

Hottest bridal party ever? I think so!

I love panoramic bridal party shots…

The boys did some sweet jumps for me. (And no one ended up in the hospital. Or fell down a hill. Well, except for me, but that was a totally different hill, and I can’t sue myself.)

A candid shot from the formals that I adore. (Kendra, you are so cute!)

Bernadette was such a radiant bride. I love how happy she looks here!

Nic always nails the architecture shots!

Bernadette totally rocking her America’s Top Model moment!

Okay…here’s the deal. The lighting during the portrait session kinda sucked unless we ran for shade. BUT, there is always a silver lining, and the silver lining this time was gorgeous Golden Hour light during the reception. Knowing how important the photos were to Bernadette and Haydn, we pulled them away for my favorite shots of the night.

Bernadette’s reception hair accessory was so pretty!

The last shot before we run out of light is always the most dramatic!

Thanks again, Bernadette and Haydn, for running into the sunset with us! ;)

Bernadette is so adorable. Check out what she gave us when we arrived (Nic got one, too)!

wedding photographers survival kit

It included our Photographer Crack: Red Bull, as well as candy, snacks, tums and aspirin for worst case scenarios! I was a little worried when I saw the aspirin about exactly how big of a pain in the butt Bernadette was planning on being that day (he he)…but I wasn’t joking about it three hours later when I fell down a hill! (The things we’ll do to get The Shot.) :D

Bernadette was radiant:

I adore this shot of Tay looking on in awe as Bernadette got ready.

Bernadette was an incredibly beautiful bride. Check out her eyes in this photo!

And over on the boys’ side…

I love going through the boys getting ready shots. They’re all a surprise to me most of the time, since I’m with the girls while Nic is with the guys. When I saw this one, it was like “High five, Nic!!!” The ring bearer getting his shirt buttons done up…holding a frog. So BOY! (I gotta brag that you can totally tell by Nic’s photography that he is a dad. He takes the best kid shots!)

One of the highlights of the day was the floral delivery. Bernadette’s bouquet made a leap into my favorite list FAST. It was amazing and gorgeous and smelled like heaven. All of the bouquets were exquisite. I highly recommend her florist, Dawn. This was Bernadette’s face as she saw Dawn carrying the flowers up the walk:

And this was why her smile was so big:

That was the bridal bouquet…next up, the bridesmaids bouquet (which looked FANTASTIC next to their brown dresses)!

And the mothers’ bouquets…

Before we left–one last pow-wow with Danielle, Bernadette’s awesome coordinator.

Coming in the next sneak: the portraits!

In honor of Bernadette and Haydn’s return from their post-wedding-mini-trip (I’m not allowed to call it a honeymoon because their real honeymoon comes later) I thought I’d post their wedding reception Photo Booth sneak peek. (I’m working on the real wedding pics, I promise! There are just a lot more of them!)

Bernadette and Haydn are our first couple to ask for a photo booth at their reception. We’ll be doing another one at Kara’s wedding next week! (If you are a Real Photography bride or groom and would like to have a photobooth at your wedding, just drop me a note. There’s no charge for photobooths.)

For Bernadette and Haydn’s booth, they had their friends loan items for a bucket of the most hilarious props I’ve ever seen in my entire life. The Halloween Costume well must run very deep!!

Here’s Bernadette with two of her wedding professionals (if that doesn’t scare you, it should). ;)

And a behind the scenes peek (Nic had just caught me shakin my groove thing while I waited for my next group to get costumed up…so of course the right way to recover from that is the giant stick-out tongue face):

photo booth behind the scenes

(For the photographers out there, we had a roll of white seamless on our portable backdrop stand, I had a 580EXII on camera, and another 580EXII on a light stand behind a diffuser on a boom arm to recreate the photo booth look.)
