intro-post

Real Photography closed in December 2014 and is no longer accepting clients.

Thank you for your support over the years! Please follow me at my new personal blog: www.needlesandapen.com to keep up with my latest photography, craft, and nursing school adventures.

(Just a reminder that we’re out of the office until Friday May 1st.)

The story of Abby and Ben’s wedding is amazing.  They planned it, along with the help of their friends and family, in just 48 hours.  Abby called emailed me late Thursday, I got back to her Friday, and by Saturday night I was photographing her wedding!

Abby and Ben are such sweet and genuine people that it is no surprise that their friends, family, and church members rallied behind them to make everything come together in two days.  Their wedding was touching, sincere, and I wish them all the best!

This is a big traveling month for me–I know I just got back, but I will be visiting a certain famous and really old mouse until Friday May 1st.  (And just to warn you–I’ll be heading out again the following week for a wedding in Delaware.)

I do have two blog posts scheduled for next week, though–I know it gets too boring around here otherwise!

On Saturday Lisa and Dave braved the awful weather to have their beautiful wedding at the First Wesleyan Church and Tre Luna.

Lisa got ready at the fantastic Lady Godiva Hair Studio in downtown Colorado Springs:

While she was getting ready, she received this text message:

I love this shot of laughter between the bride and her bridesmaids!

This one just begs for a title and I can come up with about a million!

My favorite “boys getting ready” shot is the simplest:

As the flower girl walked down the aisle she threw handfuls of flowers off to the side.  It became less and less ladylike and more and more like throwing a softball…all culminating in a violent toss of a fistful of petals at the mother of the groom.  It was hilarious!

The moment where bride and groom meet at the altar is always special!

The reception at Tre Luna was beautiful of course!  Lisa used her grandparents’ wedding topper, and had a picture of them from their wedding day on the cake table–the perfect touch!

Lisa and Dave had a bunch of great props for the photo booth.  This little guy was my fave:

Normally the light is awful for cake cutting–it’s usually in a dark corner.  But for this morning wedding with the cake in front of a window, the light was PERFECT.

Lisa ate the piece intended for Dave.  He was prepared for either a nice feeding or a face smashing, but not to have his bite stolen!

This is by far the best ever garter-toss picture I’ve ever captured.  When I saw it on the LCD I was laughing so hard I had no words.  It’s like a slow-mo boxing shot or something!

A few dancing shots…

We shot Lisa and Dave’s portraits at the end of the wedding reception, and they were very brave to go outside into the miserably windy weather!  It made for some cute windy shots, though!
