We had the best weather for Jay and Ashley’s engagement shoot this past weekend. It was almost impossible to believe it was January it was so warm! It was one of those totally awesome shoots where the hardest part of editing is getting the set down to a semi-reasonable number!
We started our shoot in Old Colorado City. Willie and I had scoped out spots last week and I loved this white picket fence.
My shot:
Nic’s version. I LOVE HIS VERSION!!!!! Never in a million years would I have seen this shot. He is so good!
I couldn’t believe it when I found a patch of green leaves!
Love this. Ashley nailed the “I am loved” look!
My friend has a studio in Old Colorado City and I love her doorway. So we borrowed it for a few minutes.
I found this wall beside someone’s garage:
We fought the crowds and stood in line for some ice cream for a prop/snack.
I really happy with the way this red wall popped!
And then we hit Garden of the Gods. I haven’t done anything like this in a while–I thought this shot called for a little polaroid transfer:
We had some SPECTACULAR light thanks to Nic + the trusty reflector (that also made shade for my lens–Nic was doing some super tricky two-for-one maneuvers) .
I could marry the light in these shots I love it so much.
I love going through images and seeing how Nic saw something so different from what I saw!
One of the last shots of the evening:
Jay and Ashley, thanks for a totally fantastic shoot! It was so fun to spend the afternoon with you and we are looking forward to your wedding even more now!

Behind the scenes…
Making shade for my lens and bouncing light onto Jay and Ashley all at the same time. SUPERMAN!
