  • Welcome to my blog!

Hi! I'm Traci. I'm a Registered Nurse who loves quilting, knitting, cross stitch, and the great outdoors. In my pre-scrubs life, I owned Real Photography, and you can still see my old wedding and portrait photography site here .

I've created a map that shows links to our camping/hiking/general family fun review posts that you can find here. It's pretty much the coolest thing on this site. Thanks, Google!

I great big puffy heart *love* comments, so please let me know you visited! I try to always reply!

first word

Friday as I was feeding Ellie, she made her ‘all done’ sign.  “All done?” I asked.  “Yeah.” she said.  With perfect pronunciation, perfect timing, perfect meaning.  I put the leftovers away.  She smiled.

taking separation anxiety to new levels

We were warned about sibling jealousy…but in this family, it’s the BABY who is jealous and unreasonable!

Ellie is a hard core momma’s girl.  And we seem to be experiencing it at its peak (or I sure hope it is at a peak—Will really didn’t go through separation anxiety, so this is a new pain-in-the-arse territory for me)!

Last week I was holding Ellie and Will came up and hugged my leg/waist.  Ellie reached down, put her hand on his face, and PUSHED HIM AWAY.  Then she buried her face into my chest.

The message could not have been clearer:  MY Mommy.

pillow swap time!

Along with the mug rug swap, I signed up for the Pillow Talk Swap.  I have been super excited about it, because it’s a modern swap, with a few more guidelines on the general style of the project.  Having never made a pillow cover, I thought I should do a practice project before diving into the main pillow.  The REAL pillow for my partner will be very similar.  I’m most likely going to be doing a larger square pillow, though, the color scheme is slightly different (though the main fabric will still be linen), and the patchwork pieces will be straight (vs wonky like I’ve gone with here–I love wonky, but I think my partner might like straight better).

For the back, I went with a simple envelop closure with a contrasting binding.  I’m planning on adding a few fabric covered buttons to the swap version to make sure the back is just as pretty as the front.

Kelly - Looks great… 🙂 Maybe it’ll be coming to MY house?!?!? 🙂

Susanne - How Pretty!

I wish I had time for the pillow swap. There are SO many talented people who participate.

I love your shopping cart cover too. Isn’t it crazy how much baby stuff has changed even in a matter of years. I’m pretty sure with my son, I had all of 3 choices.

Finally, just to make my comment a full on post on your blog ; D I must have HUGE babies!! There’s no way my baby could lounge in the seat like that!! SOO cute!!!

Celebrating the extra hour tonight by taking my favorite guy to see Megamind!

YOU GUYS MISSED IT! Ellie was SMILING!

Will, chastising Nic and I as we had an adult conversation and were not paying enough attention to his baby sister.

It’s after bedtime. Will has requested that I sleep in his bed, I’ve told him that I’ll come in and lay down for 5 minutes. I lay down, and after a little bit open my eyes. He’s just laying there, eyes open.
Me: What are you looking at?
Will: Just you.
Pause.
Will: I just love you.
Seriously?! And I’m supposed to give him up to some worthless slag of a hussie in a few years? I don’t think so! This kid is the best boyfriend I ever had!
