Mommy, could you snuggle me on the sofa? That would make me happy.
My sweet sweet boy
Elsie is sick. She cried every 1-5 minutes last night until around 1am. She was in bed with us and would settle and I’d think ‘ahh—maybe I can sleep’ and then she’d start crying again. I put her in her crib around 1 and she cried for about 5 minutes then finally fell asleep. She woke up about two hours later and it all began again, culminating at 5am with vomit all over the bed. I say this not to complain, but to remind myself. Babies are lovely, but 2 will probably do me. It would be nice to enjoy a guaranteed night’s sleep in a few years. Unless we get rich and can afford a night nanny. Then I’m having dozens more. Sometimes it’s hard to let fabric go. To let it go in the sense that you acknowledge its cuteness but know that you don’t need to purchase any more fabric, or to let it go in the sense that you’re actually going to cut into it and use it. In times like that I try to remember what my mother would tell me as I stood in that quilt shop in England with my eyes too big for my allowance to carry: “There will ALWAYS be cute fabric.” You don’t need to buy every cute thing there is now, because coming down the line is more cute stuff. Here’s some of the cute stuff that I’m getting excited about seeing in 2011! I think the most anticipate line for me will be Sherbet Pips: These farm animals are ridiculously up my alley: SUPER excited about this one from Timeless Treasures. Ms Pacman, anyone? This line wants to live with me as a jelly roll: This looks like it will have some really cute prints: Wish these weren’t coming out in organic fabric (for the extra expense, I’ll probably pass) but they sure are adorable! And that’s just stuff coming to one shop! If you love fabric and don’t already read True Up, check out all of her posts from Quilt Market! Will: Your small computer’s battery is dead. You need to get the charger. Ellie was in her bounceroo. I was at the table sewing. She started fussing. I tried to get a few more stitches down. And then I heard “Ehhh! Ehhh! All done! Ehhh!” Holy crap. I think she might be the smartest baby ever! Or maybe even a normal baby seems brilliant after your first one is a late talker. Or maybe she’s just brilliant. 🙂 |
