  • Welcome to my blog!

Hi! I'm Traci. I'm a Registered Nurse who loves quilting, knitting, cross stitch, and the great outdoors. In my pre-scrubs life, I owned Real Photography, and you can still see my old wedding and portrait photography site here .

I've created a map that shows links to our camping/hiking/general family fun review posts that you can find here. It's pretty much the coolest thing on this site. Thanks, Google!

I great big puffy heart *love* comments, so please let me know you visited! I try to always reply!

Last night Nic came downstairs to tell me this story of putting Ellie to sleep:

They rocked in the chair with her bottle, then, like always, he laid her down, turned on her music, popped in her pacifier, gave her a kiss, stroked her hair and said ‘love you.’

Then he turned and walked toward the door.  Just before he got out of the room, Ellie took her pacifier out of her mouth, and, holding it in her little hand said “luv you” and then popped it back in.

wip: stroller blanket

We are headed to Disney soon and I wanted to make a stroller blanket that will attach to Ellie’s stroller so she can’t kick it off (she loathes any attempts at covering–socks, shoes, hats, blankets all immediately end up on the ground).   I have some navy fleece that I bought to make myself pajama pants, but I haven’t done that yet, so the navy fleece is being turned into the backing.  Since navy was a fixed component, I went through the stash and pulled out a grouping that I really love:

But it doesn’t look so cute with her stroller, so I went back to the drawing board and pulled out this red, pink, navy, and aqua combo:

Hopefully I will have a blanket all finished and ready to post tomorrow!

Katie - Both fabric groups are yummy, but I agree, the top one doesn’t exactly go with the stroller. I can’t wait to see the finished product!

Christie, Describe Happy - Such cheery fabrics and I can see what you mean about the stroller’s color. You’ll be done tomorrow? Wow, can’t wait!

“Mom—Ellie’s baba is COLD.”

Will, handing Ellie her bottle of ‘big girl milk’ noting the temperature and doubting my parenting skills.  Everyone knows baby’s bottles are supposed to be WARM.

jane market bag (for the urban home goods swap)

I majorly stressed over what to make my partner.  I changed plans at least 5 times.  I finally settled on the Jane Market Bag and decided to just dive in.  For her smaller item, I made my partner a set of the mason jar pin cushions, stuffed with scraps from the bag.

I am relieved to be done with my online blind swaps.  I’m just too much of a nervous freak to enjoy them–I stress way too much over the projects and waste a lot of time and angst over whether or not my partner will like it!

Kristie at OCD - Linen and scraps? How can you go wrong! Super cute.

Katie - Hi Traci, I really like your blog. I’ve been shamefully lurking for some time. I wanted to let you know that I awarded you a Versatile Blogger award here: http://adelaidelemonade.typepad.com/adelaide-lemonade/2011/02/versatile-blogger-award.html.

Susanne - Everyone loves your stuff!! I can’t imagine someone being unhappy with any of it.

Susanne - hahaha….and if nothing else, my son just said “I like those cute little jars!” You have another fan!!!

Melissa - If your partner doesn’t LOVE that bag, she’s a lunatic! You always make such great stuff. I know where you’re coming from, but I hope you don’t spend too much time beating yourself up about what you’re making…if they don’t like it, that’s their problem! 🙂 You versatile blogger, you!

Brooke - I LOVE this bag and those jar pincushions are adorable – they definitely beat out my scraps in plastic bags. =) And I ditto everything everyone else says. You always make the most amazing things that I don’t know how someone could NOT like what you make. But, I hear you on the secret swaps thing. After I finish up Urban Home Goods and Make Mine Modern, I need a break for a while.

Heather@junevintage - Ooooooohhhhh….I LOVE these! So fabulous, Traci! (and someone would be crazy NOT to love these!)

Susie - You have a great eye for combining mismatched fabrics. Love your tote, I’m sure your partner will, tOO!

Jodi - Not sure what happened to the comment???? I can’t wait to see what you come up with for your quilt. How is Edna? I assume you either got her fixed or you have another machine. Happy quilting and have a great trip!!

Rissa - I love the pin cushion jars especially, they are adorable! I love your sense of colour in all of those <3

not at wppi

The big photography conference in Vegas is this week.  I went the past two years and vowed to go always no. matter. what.  The break from real life, the inspiration, the room service, the amazing bathroom, housekeeping to clean up after us…I thought that sitting this year out for childcare reasons would kill me.  But with Will’s party today and Disneyland coming up it’s surprisingly easy to be happy to be right here, even if I have to feed and clean up after myself.

the perfect man

I have Ellie in a tutu today for Will’s party.  After Will saw her he said the following:

Will (to Nic):  Ellie’s dress is hilarious, Dad!

Will (to Ellie):  Your dress is beautiful, Eloise.
