me: I can’t get over Ellie. She loves to play rough, her favorite toys are the swords and Will’s guns. She walks all over the house with them saying “Hiyah!” And remember when Will got those creepy eyes and teeth for Halloween and she put them on HERSELF and walked into the room with her arms out like a zombie making little zombie noises?”
Nic: That’s just what happens when you are raised by your big brother.
me: Hey! [pause] fine.

If you want me to stop busting you every time you poop and don’t wipe (eww!) then AT LEAST FLUSH THE DAMN TOILET. Love, your mother. My very first godbaby is expected next month, and so a quilt was most certainly in order! It’s back with me right now to get its label, so I remembered to grab a picture of it this time! I used the charm pack quilt pattern from Oh Fransson and the Just Wing It line from Moda. I really like the quilting on this one–the wavy lines were fun to do and I love the way it really allowed the quilt to crinkle. It feels really nice to hold! I was singing that Ella Fitzgerald song “Always” to Will (I’ll be lovin’ you/always/not for just an hour/not for just a day/not for just a year/but always) and Will accidentally sang it back to me “I’ll be loving you for just an hour” and I laughed so hard that he wouldn’t stop putting a cap on his love for me. I sent Nic up to give him a goodnight kiss, and when Nic came down he came and said “I have been told to tell you something. I have a secret for you. I’ll be loving you for a month.” This quilt originated last winter, when I pulled a stack of fabrics for Ellie’s stroller quilt but realized they clashed with her stroller. I loved the colors together, and with the tumbler die from Accuquilt and my friend’s borrowed cutter, this quilt was born! The top went together quickly, and I decided I wanted to pebble quilt it on a long arm. This is when things slowed down. Badly. It took 3 hours for me to do 1/5 of the quilt top and those 3 hours were painnnnnnful. The combination of the bed sheet back and the circular motion meant I would sew for approximately 45 seconds before the thread would break and I’d have to rethread the machine. The quilt then sat in a pile for many months! Luckily a pro long arm quilter came to my rescue and finished this bad boy up for me, and it now lives on the sofa where it is most loved. It’s a big one–just shy of twin sized, which is my new favorite size because everyone in the family can sit under it together. On the back side I included a strip of tumblers. Where the quilt is usually found…covering one of my babies! I really really love this quilt! What a gorgeous quilt!! I just love purples and navy. dxx Worth all the waiting… those colors are so pretty together and I especially like the pebble quilting! And your kiddo looks quite satisfied all snuggled up under it! This is one pattern I’ve always wanted to try! Love the colours! Yay for the finish. I love these colors together!! This pattern is beautiful lb s s a re the colors.I need to make this myself. Thanjs for sharing. |

Dolores - Another pretty quilt. You’ve got such a great eye for colour, I love the solids you’ve chosen.
dxx
AJ - Lovely quilt! Well done!
Lauren - The bold colors you selected are really great. The stripes of color make me think of ribbons. I hope she treasures it for years to come!
Susanne - AW!!! How lucky that baby will be to have YOU as a Godmother!!! She’s going to have the most unique and BEST gifts on all of those special occasions!! : D
Chrystal - This is a sweet little quilt! I started to make a blanket with this pattern but so far I just have the rows pieced together, using a couple It’s a Hoot charm packs. I like how you added solids, I might have to modify mine 🙂
Deb - What a lucky little lady to receive such a pretty quilt. I made a quilt very similar to that for my son for his first birthday; he’s snuggled on top of it (notice he’s not ‘under it’… silly boy!) right now in his crib!
