I don’t want a baby stister. I want the officers to take the baby away.
Will.
Mark your calendars—it took 8 months to hear that stereotypical “I want the baby to go away” line. And you know what did it? It’s the age old shit-rolls-downhill. The older boy whom Will adores that lives next door ran right past Will on his way home from the bus, saying “I can’t talk to you, I can’t play with you” in a mean sort of way (investigating this is my job this evening). Will came inside and immediately began dumping on Ellie. “STOP TALKING ELOISE.” “You’re BOTHERING me, ELOISE.” And (my favorite) “YOU’RE WASTING MY TIME, ELOISE.”
It’s amazing how the love that Will receives is the main determining factor in the love that he gives. Toward the end of the summer I noticed that each time we had the babysitter watch them (who has an incredible bond with Ellie) the day afterward we’d see all sorts of jealousy from Will that we never saw before.
