Disclaimer for family members and close friends: in December I’ll be posting pictures of lots of projects–things I’m making for swaps, things I’m making for Christmas gifts for family and friends, and a few projects that I’ll be keeping. If you want to be 100% surprised by your gift, turn around now and don’t come back until Dec 26th. 😛 If you keep reading during the month of December, it’s at your own risk, but I do promise not to say what any particular project is for…so you could be looking at your gift, but you could also be looking at a swap item, a gift for someone else, or even something just for us. 🙂
Now that the December admin is over, here’s what I stole a few hours to work on today:
At 9 inches high, The Cat in the Hat is the most ambitious free motion stitching / embroidery / applique / thread painting project I’ve attempted. He was worth devoting my precious preschool hours to!
Julia - I just love this blog and am envious of your talent with a needle and fabric, I think your designs are incredible, but this one just blew me away – how gorgeous is he!
Susanne - Traci, are you kidding me with that Cat in the Hat?? I mean, REALLY. He’s absolutely PERFECT!!!!! UH-MAZING!!!!
sohobutterfly - Wowza, great-fantastic-amazing job. I just picked up some Dr. Seuss fabric yesterday to make a birthday quilt for a special little boy. I love it, so fun to quilt with!!
Melissa - Super awesome! Wow. I don’t think the good doctor himself could have done a better job creating that cat!
Meagan - I LOVE all the free motion sewing you’ve been doing. I’d love to try it, do you have a tutorial you used, or maybe some hints you could pass on?
Thanks!!
Brooke - I love this! You must have a lot of patience…I’m not sure I could pull it off. Also, what’s thread painting? I haven’t heard of that before.
